There have now been six generations of the legendary BMW M5 high performance saloon car, with the latest version of the M5 featuring BMW’s all wheel drive system for the first time. The biggest step change in BMW M5 design was the E39 - which achieved a 0-62 time of just over 5 seconds, with performance coming from a 395bhp 5 litre engine. The next M5 to be released was the fifth generation F10 - which debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor show. A revised version of the M5 came out in 2013 with a minor facelift and engine tweaks took the power up to 575bhp.
